The Beer & BBQ Festival takes over White Sands Park on the foreshore for a single Saturday each June. Regional brewers, low-and-slow cooking, and live music through the afternoon and into the dark.
It is ticketed, it sells ahead, and it draws from Sydney and Canberra as much as from the Shoalhaven. Which is the whole point of this page: it finishes at eight in the evening, in June, a long way from either of them.

The Sunday is the part people forget to plan
A festival that ends at eight is a festival somebody has to drive home from. Staying turns one long day into a proper winter weekend: the park on Saturday, and Sunday morning in a town with nobody in it.
June in Huskisson is quiet in the way that people pay for in other places. Cold, clear mornings, an empty beach 400 metres away, and whales moving past the mouth of the bay from the middle of May.
At the Studio there is a courtyard sauna for the Sunday. At the Beach House there is an outdoor BBQ kitchen and a pool we will heat at no extra charge, which after a day at a barbecue festival is either the wrong idea or exactly the right one.

You can walk to the park
White Sands Park sits on the foreshore, about six minutes' walk from either residence. Nobody needs to drive, and nobody needs to nominate a driver.
Tickets sell before the line-up lands
The date is usually announced well ahead of the brewer and vendor list. Book the accommodation on the date, not on the line-up.
Dress for a coastal June
It is a park, by the water, into the evening. It gets colder than the forecast suggests once the sun drops.
Sunday is whale season
June sits inside the northern migration. Book a morning cruise with JervisBayWild from Fishermens Wharf and the weekend has a second act.

Every cafe on the strip is busy the morning after. Both kitchens are fully equipped, which on that particular Sunday is the better option.
